Biography
Samantha Sutcliffe is an artist, photographer, film-maker, writer based in New York.
She is interested in the following topics: suburbia, sexuality, fiction and how the consumption of mass media shapes and modifies our perception.
Her work is presented in various mediums including photography, interviews, short-films, music videos and additional formats that incorporate fragments from broadcast, print and social media. As a film-maker, she has been commissioned by musicians and fashion brands to create subversive and unusual narratives blending reality with fiction.
Her foundational influence is Gonzo Journalism, utilizing a fearless approach to documenting complex narratives where participation is key.
In 2021 she founded Uncensored New York, an art movement against censorship paying homage to transgression from earlier generations. Over a period of four years Samantha has programmed lectures, curated exhibitions and distributed independent cinema and music with a dedication to the preservation and production of art in this daunting socio-political landscape.
